If that succinct introduction in the first blog post left you lusting for more information about the brains behind the operation, look no further. My name is Sydny and I'm a high school student in South Carolina. Even though I consider writing to be my main hobby, I have a wide variety of interests.
I graduated from high school with honors near the top of my class. This fall, I will be attending Duke University to study neuroscience and pediatric oncology, with a possible minor in creative writing (or, at the very least, a certificate in writing). I plan on attending medical school directly after college in order to study either pediatric neurology or pediatric oncology, then become a physician specializing in either field.
Writing and medicine aren't my only interests. I also love drawing, almost as much as I love writing. After taking about two years of outside art classes in early elementary school, I became a self-taught artist and have since pursued areas like colored pencil portraits, ink drawings, and graphite caricatures. This summer, I hope to master watercolor painting. Drawing is almost as cathartic as writing, perhaps even more so, because there is a less demanding structure required for art. Like any decent abstract painting, art can be whatever you interpret it to be.
Along with drawing, I also enjoy music. I collect music (digital copies mostly) and create playlists. I have been playing the piano for almost nine years now; I played the clarinet for four years before realizing my high school band was a crooked, authoritative dictatorship that siphoned every ounce of joy out of music for me. I also enjoy singing and am currently teaching myself how to play acoustic guitar.
In addition to all of this, I love being with my friends. After I surmounted my shyness and lack of social graces, I managed to gain a large circles of friends whom I love dearly and like spending time with.
My other hobbies include reading, watching and reviewing movies, and graphic design. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
